Duo Bosco
Murilo Tanouye & Joseph Littlefield
Duo Bosco create programs that move easily between baroque music, Brazilian-influenced works and contemporary repertoire, including original two-guitar arrangements of music by J.S. Bach. Their performances are warm, conversational and full of colour, shaped by a shared curiosity and a genuine love of making music together.
Duo Bosco is a Sydney-based guitar duo made up of Murilo Tanouye and Joseph Littlefield, who first met while studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Both graduated with first-class honours and quickly discovered a shared love of exploring what two guitars can do together.
Murilo was born in Brazil and began his musical journey immersed in samba and bossa nova. His wide-ranging musical interests have led him to perform across genres and settings, from orchestral and chamber music to theatre and percussion collaborations. He has appeared as a soloist with The Metropolitan Orchestra, performed at festivals across Australia including the Sydney Festival and Bellingen Music Festival, and toured internationally throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Murilo is also an active educator and is currently Head of Guitar at Ascham School in Sydney.
Joseph’s musical life spans classical, contemporary and improvised music. He has performed with leading Australian ensembles such as the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Ensemble Offspring, Halcyon and Sydney Chamber Opera, and has composed for theatre, film and percussion ensemble TaikOz. Alongside this, he plays and records across jazz, hip-hop, rock and African music projects. Joseph performs on a custom extended-range “Brahms guitar,” opening up new sonic possibilities for the instrument.
